Overall Function
The Public Works Support Team:
1. Supports local public works departments during incident response operations and moves into recovery activities as necessary
2. Provides backup relief for local public works department staff during extended operations
3. Supports normal public works operations in addition to emergency response needs
4. Reviews damage assessments and cost estimates for repair and replacement recorded by the Damage Assessment Team – Public Works and other sources, as the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) determines
5. Is multidisciplinary and may provide support in the following areas, based on incident need:
a. Solid waste management
b. Roadway and bridge maintenance and construction
c. Traffic management
d. Fleet management
e. Building management
f. Water, wastewater, stormwater and reuse water management
g. Public and private utilities
h. Parks and urban forestry
i. Other public works functions, as necessary

1. Discuss logistics for deploying this team, such as working conditions, length of deployment, security, lodging, transportation and meals, prior to deployment.
