Overall Function
The Radiological Services Team: 1. Performs diagnostic imaging procedures in compliance with standard medical protocols 2. Applies principles of radiation protection and provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures 3. Evaluates radiographs and other medical imaging for technical quality 4. Develops a medical interpretation for each imaging study 5. Ensures that the readings are transmitted to appropriate medical providers
Composition and Ordering Specifications
1. Discuss logistics for deploying this team, such as working conditions, length of deployment, security, lodging, transportation, and meals, prior to deployment 2. Requestor and provider discuss specific equipment the requestor will provide 3. Requestor orders additional staff, if necessary, to ensure the availability of resources required to safely and effectively support the mission assignment, including administrative, logistics, communications, supply, and clerical personnel 4. Requestor supplements clinical staff with Healthcare Resource Coordination Team if equipment, supplies, information technology, and communications support are necessary 5. Requestor identifies, verifies, and mitigates potentially hazardous conditions 6. To ensure staff is qualified to care for the patient mix, requests for assistance specify the clinical area, specialty services (if necessary), mission assignment, and anticipated length of deployment 7. Requestor specifies whether interventional radiology (IR) capabilities are necessary and orders a Type 1 Radiologist separately 8. Address potential biohazard issues as appropriate 9. Specify the need to order mobile units and adjunct equipment 10. This team does not conduct nuclear medicine studies; requestor orders nuclear medicine capabilities separately
