The Fatality Management (FM) Human Remains Recovery Team is a multi-disciplinary team that provides management and support of field operations for the recovery and collection of human remains, under the medico-legal authority of the Medical Examiner or Coroner.

The FM Human Remains Recovery Team: 1. Locates human remains 2. Documents human remains 3. Transports human remains to morgue facility or the Disaster Portable Morgue Unit (DPMU) 4. Works with Urban Search and Rescue and debris removal teams to remove remains
Composition and Ordering Specifications
1. Discuss logistics for deploying this team, such as working conditions, length of deployment, security, lodging, transportation, and meals prior to deployment 2. Requestor may order additional teams based on complexity of the cause of death, the geographic scale and scope, and the number of victims 3. Order decontamination capabilities separately 4. Order canine teams separately, as necessary 5. The on-scene DPMU equipment and supply cache is self-sufficient for 72 hours of processing operations 6. Requestor provides vehicle and driver for human remains transportation on site 7. Discuss personal protective equipment (PPE) and decontamination capabilities prior to deployment
