Type Description
Type 1Same as Type 2, PLUS: 1. Has supervisory oversight responsibilities 2. Leads on-site inspections and investigations of pipeline facilities involved in major accidents or failures 3. Leads studies and provides engineering analyses of pipeline safety issues 4. Monitors and analyzes program performance to determine trends, assess safety and integrity levels, and uncover necessary program policy changes 5. Proposes or develops changes to pipeline safety compliance program policies, practices, and guidance
Type 2Same as Type 3, PLUS: 1. Conducts safety program reviews 2. Provides technical assistance to help resolve issues arising in the administration of the safety compliance program 3. Interprets and applies regulations and monitoring requirements to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of gas and liquid pipeline systems 4. Identifies potential areas for improvement in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of gas and liquid pipeline systems
Type 31. Conducts engineering analyses and evaluations of potential pipeline regulatory deficiencies 2. Performs field surveys and investigations to determine condition of pipeline facilities 3. Reviews the design and specifications of pipeline systems under construction or repair to ensure conformance with safety regulations; tasks may include the following: a. Evaluating projects to assess compliance with state safety regulations b. Ensuring that maintenance and repair schedules and procedures conform to safety requirements
