Type Description
Type 1The Construction Cost Estimator: 1. Provides technical support in collecting and analyzing data to estimate the time, money, resources, and labor required for HM construction projects 2. Coordinates and consults with stakeholders in the HM construction project including engineers, architects, owners, and contractors to develop project costs for bids and HM grant applications 3. Contributes to evaluations of the technical feasibility and eligibility of the overall HM project and makes recommendations to make a project more cost effective 4. Suggests Section 404 Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and Section 406 Public Assistance Program mitigation and reconstruction options

Education1. For many communities, the Construction Cost Estimator may not be a separate job title but may be the responsibility of an engineer, building official, or planner 2. The position may also be filled by a private contractor

Type 1Minimum of an Associate degree (Bachelor's degree preferred) in a related field including construction management, engineering, mathematics, statistics or building sciences, or commensurate experience in the field of construction
Training1. IS-284 can be substituted with an equivalent damage estimator training course 2. E-212: Hazard Mitigation Assistance: Developing Quality Application Elements is recommended, but not required
