Overall Function
The Hazard Mitigation (HM) Community Education and Outreach Specialist serves as a general liaison between the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and related agencies/organizations and the public during mitigation operations. This position is responsible for understanding and interpreting a wide range of potentially complex programmatic and technical information and conveying information to individuals and organizations.

Participates in community meetings about mitigation programs and implementation 3. Interprets and conveys technical information about hazards and mitigation opportunities to mitigation stakeholders 4. Analyzes HM-related data to provide recommendations and identify problems 5. Provides basic HM technical assistance to internal and external partners 6. Helps the public and government organizations understand HM programs, particularly in relation to processes and eligibility
