Type Description
Type 1The Type 1 HM Risk Analyst: 1. Prepares risk analytics and facilitates risk assessment processes for all of a community’s mitigation efforts, including: a. HM planning b. Post-disaster Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) Subgrant project application development c. Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Subgrant applications d. FEMA Public Assistance (PA) mitigation project applications 2. Supports loss avoidance studies and explains the relevance of hazard risks to building codes and building performance 3. Translates technical data for both technical and non-technical audiences and produces maps and technical reports on hazard/risk assessments
Type 2The Type 2 HM Risk Analyst: 1. Provides support to jurisdictions with technical assistance and risk analysis guidance for HM Plan development or update and HMA Grants 2. Supports analyzing risk and vulnerability, providing technical assistance for Benefit-Cost Analyses (BCA), and Loss Avoidance studies 3. Assists stakeholders in defining GIS products for risk analysis and produces maps based on hazard/risk assessments
Type 3The Type 3 HM Risk Analyst: 1. Assists with basic risk analysis technical assistance and guidance for local or state HM Plan development or update with regard to HMA and Cooperating Technical Partners (CTP) Grants 2. Produces GIS maps, as directed, to illustrate hazard risk 3. Collaborates with the floodplain manager to ensure compliance with National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) requirements
