| Type | Description |
| Type 1 | Same as Type 2, PLUS 1. Responsible for developing or updating the relevant Hazard Mitigation Plan and FEMA acceptable HM Plans 2. Providing hazard mitigation assistance to a community which has some mitigation planning capability 3. Develop multi-hazard mitigation plan to ensure compliance with Section 322 of the Disaster Mitigation Act (42 USC 5165) 4. Access and use FEMA technology tools and systems 5. Ensure that the plan strategies are incorporated into hazard mitigation strategies and recovery efforts |
| Type 2 | The HM Planner is responsible for assisting a state in providing Hazard Mitigation Planning Technical Assistance to applicable units of government. This could include analysis of old plans, determining scope of new plans, providing training in HM Planning, on-site planning assistance, developing a local planning team and planning schedule, planning meetings, and undertaking research pertaining to the community’s hazards, risk and vulnerability, identifying existing capabilities, and identifying loss-reduction opportunities and implementation strategies. |
