Type 1The Type 1 HM Officer: 1. Manages the hazard mitigation planning and grant programs for a community 2. Oversees the work of the HM Operations Team and HM Planning Team to achieve HM objectives 3. Provides oversight and implementation of floodplain management ordinance, National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and Community Rating System 4. Collaborates with boards and other local agencies such as planning and growth management, emergency management, and planning commission to achieve shared goal of community resilience 5. Provides leadership to support effective pre- and post-event risk analysis, planning, and rebuilding strategies and actions 6. Manages the process of developing and prioritizing projects that are funded by federal grants 7. Serves as an HM Subject Matter Expert (SME) for elected and appointed officials and other stakeholders
Type 2The Type 2 HM Officer: 1. Provides support for hazard mitigation planning and grant programs prior to and after a hazard event 2. Provides advice to the HM Operations Team and the HM Planning Team to achieve HM objectives and to provide support for effective pre- and post-event risk analysis, planning, and rebuilding strategies and actions 3. Supports the process of developing and prioritizing projects that are funded by federal grants 4. Serves as Hazard Mitigation SME for elected and appointed officials and other stakeholders Collaborates with the floodplain manager to ensure compliance with NFIP requirements
