Type Description
Type 11. The Public Health Interviewer conducts individual interviews for an epidemiologic case investigation, contact tracing or canvasing according to the protocols provided by the AHJ 2. Coordinates with AHJ public health staff to complete just-in-time (JIT) training on epidemiological interviews, contact tracing protocols and canvassing, as needed 3. Implements Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER) as determined by AHJ public health staff 4. Conducts epidemiological interviews, contact tracing and or canvasing in the field, the office or remotely 5. Helps disseminate Public Health information to impacted populations as directed by AHJ 6. Ensures personal or sensitive information collected during interviews or contact tracing is handled in accordance with the AHJ's data security and confidentiality laws 7. Compiles and coordinates information; relays information to Public Health officials, as directed by the AHJ 8. Provides effective support and collects the most accurate information to inform the next steps in the public health investigation

Training in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.134: Respiratory Protection, as required by AHJ 6. Training in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, as required by the AHJ 7. This position can be ordered as a single resource or in conjunction with a National Incident Management System (NIMS) typed team (Epidemiological Response Team or Public Health and Medical Shelter Support Team)
Discuss logistics for this position, such as security, lodging, transportation and meals prior to deployment
The position typically works 12 hours per shift, is self-sustainable for 72 hours and is deployable for up to 14 days
