Type 1The Medical Laboratory Technologist: 1. Collects or receives from a clinical site patients’ biological specimens and processes them to support patient diagnosis and treatment 2. Performs (or supervises Medical Laboratory Technicians’ performance of) analytical testing of blood, urine, other body fluids, and other types of biological specimens 3. Oversees lab procedures, quality assurance, and safety, if the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) or assisted facility does not provide this function
