| Type 1 | The FM Morgue Forensic Odontologist: 1. Assists in the victim identification process by determining the dental characteristics of human remains for comparison with ante mortem dental records 2. Coordinates with the FM Morgue Forensic Team Leader to determine dental radiographic requirements and the appropriate methods for printing and displaying captured digital images 3. Performs postmortem dental examinations 4. Digitizes radiographs and other images for computer graphical comparison using digital x-ray software 5. Maintains and examines dental records, charts, and radiographs created during morgue operations 6. Computerizes postmortem dental information 7. Reports directly to the FM Morgue Forensic Team Leader |

| Education | A Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree from an U.S. Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accredited school. Though not mandatory, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) affiliated American Board of Forensic Odontology (ABFO) serves as the credentialing body for dentists who have satisfied experience and training requirements to sit for the ABFO examination. |
